ORLANDO, FLA -- It's hard to forget a first love.

In most cases; a relationship, a car, a job etc.

Billy Gunn's first love came in a 20x20ft wrestling ring. He never lost it.

“I just love it. Like I love it enough that I get super excited, like overly. I’d blow myself up sky high.”

For nearly 30 years, Gunn has been one of the most recognizable names in professional wrestling. That same giddy feeling has kept him going for three decades.

“I feel if I don’t have that I might as well quit because some kind of passion or my desire to do this is gone.”

His passion hasn't changed, just his role. Gunn is now a coach for All Elite Wrestling based in Jacksonville.

“Coaching is my thing and yeah it’s not that I can’t do this I just love to do this.”

Coaching? That's a no-brainer. Who he's coaching at first was a different story.

“When people say, hey can’t you wait for your kids to get in it, I go no. I don’t what them to get in it.”

'Them' would be Gunn's two sons; Colten and Austin. The younger wanted to scratch the itch.

“Every child has that stubborn stage growing up where mom or dad tells you not to do something, you want to do it," Austin said.

"Our deal was if you graduate college you can do whatever you want," Billy said. "My youngest, Austin, came to me the day before graduation (Rollins College) and said I want to give this a shot. I went 'oh I thought I dodged it.'"

"The bad part is, he is really good," Gunn said.

Father and son first, now coach and wrestler in AEW. That first love has been passed down.

“I’ll never forget what he told me the first time I stepped in the ring," Austin said. "He goes just have fun. If you’re having fun, that’s it. That’s all you can ask for and I’m having so much fun.”

Billy Gunn found his first love in a wrestling ring. Thanks to Austin, that love is growing stronger by the day.

"It's nerveracking but it's also amazing to do something with your kid who you love so much."
