Outgoing Majority Leader Johnathan Shell has a new job as the Director of State Initiatives at right leaning think tank Pegasus Institute.

Pegasus Institute says in his new role, Shell will "work to expand our footprint statewide allowing us to focus even more on local policy issues and strengthening relationships with local officials."

Shell was a rising star in the Kentucky Republican party becoming the youngest majority leader in state history, until he was defeated in a tight primary by educator Travis Brenda. The race was decided by just 123 votes, by the educator who ran heavily on Democratic education talking points. Brenda went on to an easy victory in the general election.

Shell has also been named as Mitch McConnell's Campaign Chairman for his 2020 Senate re-election campaign. In the unpaid position, Shell will make public appearances for McConnell throughout the state and attend lead grassroot efforts.

The Pegasus Institute was formed in 2016.
