“It is all about action. Everyone wants to help, everyone wishes for better but it is all about action,” said FAMU Law student Merjan Kareem.

Students from FAMU Law and attorneys with community legal services offered free legal advice at the pop-up legal clinic. The Director of FAMU's Legal Clinics and a professor within the law school Mark Dorosin believes this type of work is helping bring about Dr. Martin Luther King Junior’s vision of justice for all.

"What we know in our society is that access to legal services is critical to access to justice and to equal justice and that was Dr. King’s most critical message, justice,” added Dorosin.

Patricia Broussard is a Professor at the FAMU Law School and organizer of this event as well as a Commissioner on Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s MLK Commission. She thinks this is not only a great opportunity to help the community, but it is also an opportunity to help create an example for these law students.

“This is exactly what his message is that we return in kind that which we have been given,” explained Broussard.

Students like Helin Nagib said it is an honor to continue the legacy of MLK and continue his fight

“It is a great honor. It is just spreading the word, spreading awareness and helping,” added Nagib. “We are carrying out what MLK left and hope we can do good work.”
