LOS ANGELES — Some of the brightest stars in the music industry are about to be inducted on Saturday evening as the newest members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

What You Need To Know

  • The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022 Induction Ceremony is Saturday, Nov. 5 in Los Angeles

  • It's one of the largest class of inductees, with 14 individuals or groups receiving recognition

  • This year's honorees represent a variety of musical styles who've all had an impact on rock and roll

The induction ceremony is taking place Saturday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, but each inductee is leaving their mark in Ohio.

On the walls inside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland is the signature of each person who’s been inducted so far, almost 1,000 people.

Now, names like the members of Duran Duran and Lionel Richie are joining those ranks as a part of the 2022 class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. And this year’s class is a diverse one.

“We’ve got Elizabeth Cotten, who started making music over 100 years ago, sharing space with Eminem, who really broke in in the late ‘90s, early 2000s and really started to establish his career then,” said Joe Wickens, collections and exhibits manager for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Wickens helped bring an exhibit honoring the newcomers to life inside the Rock Hall.

“To help those folks tell these stories and honor these inductees, it’s an honor for me to do,” he said. “It’s something that is never lost on me.”

The space is filled with memorabilia showcasing some iconic items in the careers of the incoming class, like wardrobe pieces from Pat Benatar’s performances and a rhinestone-covered saxophone that still has some of Dolly Parton’s lipstick on the mouthpiece.

“This was obviously used enough that she was leaving a little bit of herself on it,” Wickens said.

The 2022 class of inductees is one of its largest, with 14 individuals or groups receiving recognition. The group is made up of musicians and industry executives who’ve had an impact on rock music.

The exhibit honoring the 2022 inductees will be on display all year. The ceremony will air on HBO Nov. 19.
