CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Vice President Kamala Harris was in attendance for the Artemis I launch Monday morning, however, technical difficulties postponed the historic mission.

The Vice President, who chairs the National Space Council, visited the Kennedy Space Center today along with her husband, second gentlemen Doug Emhoff.

Harris was expected to deliver remarks after the launch, and tour Artemis II and Artemis III hardware.

An engine bleed is one of the issues for why the Artemis I launch was postponed. The next chance is Sept. 2 but that is still being assessed, according to NASA.

NASA crews are now gathering data to work through the engine bleed issue.

Harris’ visit to the Space Coast follows her visit to Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland, Calif., earlier this month. While there, she met with private sector leaders and delivered remarks about how the administration is fostering a burgeoning and globally competitive U.S. commercial space sector. She also announced the date for the next National Space Council meeting, which will take place on Friday, Sept. 9.
