What You Need To Know

  • Disney is turning Splash Mountain into an attraction inspired by “The Princess and the Frog" named Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
  • It will debut at both Disney World and Disneyland in late 2024

  • The ride, which will feature new music and characters, will take inspiration from the city of New Orleans

During the Essence Fest in New Orleans, Disney announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will debut at both Disney World and Disneyland in late 2024.

The attraction, first announced in 2020, will pick up right where the 2009 film left off. The story will center around Tiana, Naveen and Louis the alligator as they prepare for a big Mardi Gras celebration.

The ride, which will feature new music and characters, will take inspiration from the city of New Orleans.

“In many ways, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a love letter to New Orleans,” said Charita Carter, executive producer with Walt Disney Imagineering, in a statement. “Like the musical city that inspired this attraction, Tiana’s second act is about a community working in harmony to achieve something extraordinary.”

The latest information released about the attraction comes just weeks after actress Anika Noni Rose, who voices Tiana, revealed the opening timeline during an interview on “Live with Kelly and Ryan.”

Disney has not yet said when either Splash Mountain attraction will close to make way for the transformation.
