EDGEWATER, Fla. — A precautionary boil water alert issued for parts of the city of Edgewater has been lifted, and customers may resume normal usage, the city announced Monday.

On Friday, a contractor working for Florida Power & Light hit a large water main in the 1700 block of Kumquat Drive in the City of Edgewater.

The incident resulted in many customers having a noticeable decrease in water pressure to their homes or businesses, and a precautionary boil water notice was issued at the time to residents in the following locations:

  • North of SR 442/Indian River Boulevard to 10th Street from Riverside Drive to Mango Tree Drive
  • South of SR 442/Indian River Boulevard to 26th Street from the railroad tracks to Mango Tree Drive

In accordance with safety standards set by the Florida Department of Health, testing has been satisfactorily completed, a city spokesperson announced.
