An Orange County mechanic gifted a woman a car he had been preparing to sell.

Rolondo Rojas, who owns Mechanic of West Orange, gave Dolores St. John of Winter Garden a 2010 sedan right before Christmas. Rojas said he took one look at the car she had been driving and knew there was nothing he could do to fix it, because it was in such bad shape.

“It was the right thing to do,” he said. “I’ve been blessed and I don’t mind helping out when I can, and she really needed the help.”

St. John lives on a fixed income and was not prepared to buy another car. Rojas said he told her to take her old car to the scrapyard and keep the money they would give her for it.

St. John said she got $400 for the car.

She is so appreciative of Rojas.

“This to me is like a 2022 car and I feel like a rich old lady driving it," said St. John
