Ashleigh Mills is an Emmy award-winning journalist who proudly joined the Spectrum News 13 team in September 2021 as a Multimedia Journalist and Reporter covering Orange and Seminole counties.

Ashleigh comes to the Sunshine State from the Bluegrass State, where she most recently worked as Anchor and Reporter for News 13’s sister station in Louisville, Kentucky.

She strives to meet new people and tell their stories! Ashleigh has long been a passionate advocate of journalism, since her early days writing for her high school newspaper in the small town of Evans, Ga. That’s where she realized her passion for storytelling, and giving a voice to those in need.

During her time at The University of South Carolina, she discovered broadcast news as her life’s calling. That’s where Ashleigh was awarded an Emmy for her story on a college group’s demonstration to arm themselves on campus.

After that, she began her career in Savannah, Ga. as WSAV’s South Carolina Lowcountry bureau correspondent. Then, she went on to report on all things South Carolina politics for WIS-TV in Columbia.

Some of Ashleigh’s most memorable moments throughout her career include covering the civil unrest and aftermath of the police killing of Breonna Taylor in Louisville. She also reported on the tragic Charleston church shooting of June 2015 and the trial that followed.

In her free time, Ashleigh spends time with her husband exploring the local food scene! She loves trying new restaurants and recipes. She and her husband also like to travel. They especially enjoy snorkeling with marine wildlife. So far they’ve seen manatees, bull sharks, sea turtles and sea lions in the water!
