  • The treatment is said to improve COVID-19 symptoms in as quickly as 24 hours

Starting next week, True Health in Sanford will offer monoclonal antibody infusion treatment, which is said to improve symptoms in as quickly as 24 hours.

The new facility, which opens Monday at 8 a.m., is located at 4240 N. U.S. Highway 17-92 in Sanford.

Health experts consider this emergency treatment crucial in preventing severe illness or hospitalizations. The infusion is available to COVID-19 positive patients with mild to moderate symptoms.

Patients are seated and socially distanced in the treatment room for the one-time IV treatment. This treatment needs to be done within 10 days of symptom onset to prevent severe illness or hospitalizations.

To be eligible, you have to be over 65 or you can be younger if you have chronic medical conditions.

"The monoclonal antibodies are man-made antibodies and proteins which work like our body's natural immune system. They help to fight off and slow down the virus. Many patients note improvement or relief of their symptoms within 24 hours," True Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Karenna Senors said.

True Health has seven locations in Central Florida where they offer things like primary care and pediatrics, as well as coronavirus testing and vaccines. They accept insured and uninsured patients for this infusion treatment.

Appointments are available at mytruehealth.org.

You can also recover at home once the treatment is done.
