FLORIDA — Kamala Harris not only the first black vice president of the United States, she’s also the first woman.

Many women across the country today wore the colors pink and green for the new vice president of the United States. Harris joined the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. while attending Howard University, but it doesn’t matter where one joined the sorority, because the women of the organization all feel connected through sisterhood.

“It’s like a distant sister," Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. member and FAMU law student Brooke Jamison said. "It is a moment where you are like wow, I appreciate this because she has done so much too, and she is a part of this organization we have that tie, and share common principles.

Not only will today be knows as the Inauguration Day for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, but her sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has also declared today January 20 “Kamala Harris Day” with members always wearing pink and green and pearls to honor her.
