They are re-usable Hanes cotton masks that were delivered from the state last week. The original delivery was 67,000 masks, but they've already given a few thousand away to local organizations.
They've received over 60 calls in just a day from people looking for masks. The DOH hopes by giving these out to anyone that needs them, everyone in Flagler County will wear a mask while out. They warn while Flagler county’s numbers are low, the rising number cases across the state has them worried.
“Masks are more important now than at any stage in our fight against this because now as we open up, if we don’t keep it under control it is going to get bad,” said Dr. Stephen Bickel, Medical Director of the Florida Department of Health in Flagler County.
If you would like to pick up masks, all you have to do is call the Department of Health at 386-437-7350 and ask for Gretchen Smith. The Flagler Department of Health said other health departments across the state received similar shipments of face masks as well.
