  • Amber Alert means she's thought to be in danger, abducted

Kimberly Newberry-Ohler was last seen in the 7500 block of Southeast Dove Street in Hobe Sound, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said.

Officials canceled the Amber Alert less than an hour after putting it out Thursday. They said she'd been found safe.

In their alert, Kimberly was described as 5-foot-3 and about 110 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black-and-white striped shirt, black pants with a red-and-white stripe, and white Croc shoes, FDLE officials said.

Kimberly was thought to be in the company of two men traveling in a black, two-door truck with a roof rack. Officials said they could be traveling to the Port St. Lucie area.

An Amber Alert is issued when investigators think that not only is the child's life in danger, but they also think the child was kidnapped. A "missing child alert," on the other hand, is issued when the child's life is thought to be in danger, but officials don't think it was a kidnapping.

Amber Alerts are not used for runaway or family-abduction cases, according to FDLE.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Martin County Sheriff's Office at 771-220-7170.
