PALM BAY, Fla. — Palm Bay firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire Friday on Daley Street SE, according to Palm Bay Fire Battalion Chief Gaius Hall.

  • 2 adults, 2 children safely evacuated
  • Firefighters suffered no injuries
  • House fire reported at 1:37 p.m.

The fire, possibly caused by a child playing with matches, was contained to a bedroom used as a home office. The family was home at the time and quickly called for help.

“We had a really big jump on it,” Hall said. Three fire engines responded.

Two adults and two children safely got out. No one was hurt.

The American Red Cross, which provides temporary assistance to fire victims, was notified. But the family doesn’t have to vacate the home, Hall said.

The fire was contained to the bedroom and part of the attic. The rest of the house sustained light smoke damage.

The Florida State Fire Marshal is investigating.
