SAN ANTONIO — Before the Spurs carved out their rightful spot in NBA history, Brandy Gunderson was drawn to the glitz and glam of the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the 80s, and the Lakers were on top of the world, and teenage Gunderson was hooked.

Decades later, she has never given up on her team and has never switched her loyalty over to her hometown team.

“It’s just magical, I don’t ever cheer for the Spurs,” Gunderson said. “I am not a fan, I’m not a bandwagon fan, as they say. I’ve just never liked the Spurs and I’ve always been a Lakers fan and always will be.”

With almost 12,000 Twitter followers, Gunderson considers herself the most famous Lakers fan in San Antonio. There’s no way to prove that, but her dedication can’t be questioned. Gunderson has a Lakers tattoo and a room in her home dedicated to the team.

On Monday night, she saw the Lakers beat the Spurs 114-104 in San Antonio, thanks to the LA’s Jared Dudley. The Lakers forward gives away tickets via Twitter to fans across the country at Lakers away games.

Despite her intense fandom, Gunderson has never seen the Lakers play in Los Angeles. She is confident her team will win the NBA Finals this season and if they do, she has plans to go to the victory parade. In fact, she even wants to try to use her Twitter connections to get on a parade float.
