CLEARWATER, Fla. — A certified nursing assistant with a fetish for older women under his care was arrested Monday on multiple counts of sexual battery on a physically helpless person, according to Clearwater Police.

  • Falo Kane, 32, licensed to work in facilities where incidents took place
  • Kane also violated probation for simple battery charge

Police said Falo Kane, 32, sexually abused two of his patients in 2016 and was involved in two more incidents that occurred this year at various health care facilities in Clearwater.

One of the victims was an 80-year-old woman. Another was a disabled stroke patient and two others use wheelchairs, according to police.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Traverso told Judge Michael Andrews during Kane's first appearance in court on Tuesday that the defendant admitted to police he had a fetish for his older female patients.

"He was licensed to be in these facilities," she said. "He admitted post miranda that he has a fetish for this type of behavior, so, I believe that he is a danger.”

Traverso asked Andrews to bar Kane from entering any medical facilities if he's ever able to post a $400,000 bond to get out of the Pinellas Jail. The judge granted that condition of pre-trial release.

According to the arrest affidavit, one of the victims told police that the encounter was not consensual and she "felt disgusted" after the fact. Kane wrote a generic apology letter to all of his victims.

Neighbors said Kane lives in an apartment with his wife and two kids. We tried contacting Kane's wife but nobody came to the door.

Neighbor Emma Cruz said Kane seemed like a nice guy and she's shocked by the allegations.

"He talks very nice to the people and everything," she said. "He go to the church every Sunday.”

Clearwater police released the four locations where the alleged sexual batteries took place:

  1. Glen Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center at 1110 Pine St.
  2. Comprehensive Health Care Facility at 2055 Palmetto St. (now called the Kensington Gardens Rehab)
  3. Advanced Care Center at 401 N. Fairwood Avenue
  4. Clearwater Center at 1270 Turner St.

Clearwater Center administrator David Jones released a statement regarding Kane's arrest:

"Clearwater Center is aware of the allegations made against a former employee. As this is an on-going investigation, we are unable to further comment currently.

As always, we are committed to the safety and well-being of our residents and families. Clearwater Center, a not for profit facility has been serving the community for 40 years."

Kane was also arrested for violating his probation on a simple battery charge, something he asked the judge about in court.

“The only question I have because I’m supposed to meet my appointment with my probation next week," he said. "So, I don’t know how does that go since I’m in here?”

“While you’re in custody you’re not going to be able to meet with probation,” said Andrews.

On Wednesday, Clearwater Police Department detectives filed three additional sexual battery charges against Kane, for a total of seven. The latest three charges stem from incidents that occurred at Advanced Care Center, 401 Fairwood Ave.

Detectives continue to urge anyone with information on Kane or any potential cases to call Clearwater Police at 727-562-4242.
