SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Each morning Sean Panzer can serve up to 300 cups of steaming hot lattes to his customers.

However, he is now looking for something hot in return – a Democratic candidate who could steamroll President Donald Trump in 2020.

“It’s important to find someone who could win it in the general,” said Panzer.

An openly gay man from Sherman Oaks, Panzer manages Caffe Luxxe, a cozy coffee shop in the heart of Santa Monica. He has always been interested in politics, but this election, he says, he is more invested.

“The presidency can directly affect your life,” said Panzer.

Since becoming president, Trump has repeatedly rolled back LGBTQ+ protections. Panzer isn’t taking any chances. He says he will be watching closely what the candidates have to say about healthcare, climate change and, especially, gay rights.

While Panzer hasn’t made up his mind yet on who he’s going to support, he is most excited to see Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg. Buttigieg is the first openly gay candidate to ever qualify for a presidential debate.

“I think it’s phenomenal to see someone like me up there,” Panzer said.

In the meantime, he will continue making his lattes and keeping a close eye on all of the 2020 contenders.
