DELAND, Fla. -- Some DeLand water customers are under a precautionary boil-water notice as repairs continue after a water-main break Tuesday.

  • Water-main busted before noon
  • Service restored by 4 p.m.
  • Eastbound lane of Orange Camp Road closed temporarily

A contractor busted a water main around 11:30 Tuesday morning at Woodland Boulevard and Orange Camp Road while workers were trying to repair a reclaimed water line, DeLand spokesman Chris Graham said in an email. Several businesses lost water service.

Most customers’ water service had been restored by 4 p.m., though crews will be working through the night to complete the job.

"Businesses east of Woodland Boulevard from about Golf Club Drive/Deerfoot Road and south to the West Volusia Regional Shopping Center that lost water are being advised by city staff of a precautionary boil water notice," Graham said. "There were also a few homes that were affected nearby and are being notified of the precautionary boil water notice."

He noted that the eastbound lane of Orange Camp Road at the intersection will be closed for several days. It needs to be repaved.
