COCOA, Fla. — Friends and family will hold a vigil Sunday night for Tashaun Jackson, a Brevard County woman whose body was found dead in Osceola County after she disappeared for nearly a week.

The candlelight vigil will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Clear Pond Estates, on North Fiske Boulevard.

Family members say Jackson, 31, went to a nearby 7-Eleven a week ago and never returned. Her body was found Friday just off Deer Park Road near Nova Road, in a remote area of east Osceola County.

Police are calling it a homicide.

Sh’Mika Scott-Devoe, Tashaun’s cousin says the family had to break the news to Tashaun Jackson's four kids ages ranging from 11 to as young as 1.

The family believes her disappearance could be connected to a deposition she gave two weeks ago in an attempted rape case.

Jackson's family is also dealing with the loss of her father.

Charles Jackson was trying to cross State Road 520 with a bicycle Friday when he was struck by an SUV. He later died at an area hospital.

The family says this happened after they learned of Tashaun's death, and that her father had been distraught at the news.
