The crash happened at about 7:20 p.m. after one of the semitractor trailers, which was carrying produce, overturned and crushed a car just north of Ocala.

"Crews cut the top of the semi's trailer to gain access to the car. After removing the truck's payload, they utilized the 'ram' to reshape the car's roof, thus giving the patients a chance to breathe," Marion firefighters said in a Facebook post.

The driver and passenger of the car were declared trauma alerts and were taken to an area hospital. (Marion County Fire Rescue)
