FLORIDA — When ex-felons show up to register to vote as early as Tuesday, elections offices will accept the registrations.

Several Bay area elections officials we spoke to said they are prepared to carry out the mandate in Amendment 4, which passed in November and will become part of the state's constitution next week.

Some confusion over implementing Amendment 4 arose last month, however, when Governor-Elect Ron DeSantis said the legislature should write some kind of formal implementation language.

In response, Senate President Bill Galvano, as well as other lawmakers, said the amendment is self-implementing.

It's expected that 1.2 million ex-felons will be eligible to vote in Florida due to voters approving Amendment 4, which they did overwhelmingly.
