The Constitution Revision Commission, a panel that meets every 20 years and can propose changes to the state constitution, rejected several proposed restrictions Wednesday.

A majority of the members voted that the measures were out of order and couldn't be considered under the panel's rules.

Two of the proposals that were rejected asked voters whether they would ban a type of semiautomatic rifle.

A former federal prosecutor wanted Florida voters a chance to decide to add the same restrictions passed recently by the Florida Legislature, including raising the minimum age to buy a gun to 21.
