ST. CLOUD, Fla. — Danny Quinn owns Quinn Contractors of St. Cloud, but in his time off, you can call him Santa’s little helper.

  • Christmas for the Kids gives toys to Osceola kids in need
  • Osceola school district provides list of children
  • People, businesses, and nonprofits donate every year

Quinn stores, sorts and organizes toys for kids in need, which he has been doing for more than a decade.

It’s called Christmas for the Kids, a nonprofit that will give toys and gift cards to children, plus food and hygiene items to their families, for the holidays in Osceola County.

Quinn does this with the assistance of his wife, Connie, and other helping hands.

“When you see those little children come in and they get the toys and just the smile on their faces, it’s just very fulfilling,” Connie Quinn says.

The actual giveaway is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. December 15. Not only will there be gifts, but there will also be music, cookie decorating, and photo-taking opportunities with characters.

The Osceola County School District creates the list of kids who are most in need.

“It’s just all about the holiday spirit and giving back, and helping people that need help,” said Leslie Campbell, the Director of Special Programs for the school district.

Quinn said he's grateful for all the people, businesses, and nonprofits that donate every year.

“Several thousand families have come through and given something, and I would hope that somebody would keep it going and do something,” Quinn said.

About 1,800 kids have been invited to join them during Saturday's event. It's estimated that they will serve about 300 families.

If you would like to get involved with Christmas for the Kids this year, you can drop off a toy at 1396 Hamlin Avenue, St. Cloud, 34771.
