KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A man who thought he was meeting a woman he met on a dating app was robbed at gunpoint by three men who posed as law enforcement officers, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened Wednesday evening in a shopping plaza on the 4600 block of West Irlo Bronson Highway in Kissimmee, deputies say.

According to investigators, the man told them that he thought he was meeting up with a woman he met on a dating app. Instead, three men, allegedly posting as law enforcement officials, approached him outside a store, pulled out a handgun, and told the man he was under arrest.

The man told investigators that he believed the men and complied with their demands.

The three men then made the man take them to his nearby hotel room, where they reportedly demanded money from him.

Deputies said the trio fled in a dark-colored vehicle.
