In a recent special edition of Political Connections, Anchor Ybeth Bruzual interviewed gubernatorial candidates Republican U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum.

Republican U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis was endorsed by President Donald Trump even before he declared his gubernatorial run. Firm in his support of the president, DeSantis doesn't think there was any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. DeSantis is a former Navy lawyer in Iraq and federal prosecutor.

DeSantis' running mate is Florida Rep. Jeanette Nuñez, a Miami-area lawmaker who has been in the Florida House of Representatives since 2011.

Democrat Andrew Gillum, Tallahassee mayor, came from a working class family in Miami. Gillum says he'll fight against special interests as it relates to climate change, and he has the endorsement of billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer. He supports raising the corporate tax rate to help pay for public schools and teacher raises.

Gillum's running mate is Chris King, an Orlando-area developer who ran against Gillum for the Democratic nomination for governor.
