NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Florida – A small bottlenose dolphin was found dead on New Smyrna Beach early Sunday, according to Volusia County Beach Safety.

The dolphin was discovered just before 8 a.m. near the end of the beach, north of Beachway Avenue.
Members of SeaWorld's rescue team arrived at the beach and took the dolphin away.
A necropsy will likely be conducted to determine the animal's cause of death, authorities say.
Volusia County Beach Safety added that there are no signs of red tide at the beach.
