COCOA BEACH, Fla. — A beloved feline who has called the Cocoa Beach Pier home for the past decade is being remembered Wednesday night.

The stray cat was known to some as "Severus" from the Harry Potter films, as "Spooky" to others, and "Keith" to the local oyster bar workers.
He was a mainstay on the beach.
But just a few days ago "Severus", who wasn't normally friendly, began begging for food.
After a trip to the vet last week, the vet was diagnosed with cancer and heart issues.
They decided to put him down.
“He was just a fixture. You knew when you came to work there was a cat. So now he's not here, and you take things for granted,” said Nikki Young, a Cocoa Beach Pier employee.
Employees and the community are honoring the beloved cat by scattering his ashes at the pier Wednesday night.
