NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Two men are facing battery charges after a road rage incident in Volusia County, according to police.

  • 2 men charged with battery after getting into fight
  • Fight stemmed from apparent road rage incident

The alleged road rage incident happened Tuesday morning on the beachside of New Smyrna Beach, says Lt. Shane Riggle with New Smyrna Beach Police Dept.

Riggle says a man who was said he was cut off by a driver followed the man to a Publix parking lot on 3rd Avenue.

Subsequently, the man walked over to the other driver, and allegedly punched him through his open car window.

The driver who was reportedly punched then got out of his car, walked over to the other man as he was going back to his car, and then hit him with a crowbar in the back of his head.

The men then allegedly got into a fight, but Riggle says police broke it up when they arrived.

The identities of the men are not yet known.
