ORLANDO, Fla. — Wayne Liebnitzky is running on the Republican ticket for U.S. Congressional District 9.

Liebnitzky, of St. Cloud, will battle it out with incumbent Congressman Darren Soto (D) on the November ballot.

This will be his second time facing Soto in the general election for the District 9 seat, as he also ran against Soto for the same seat in Nov. 2016.

District 9 covers Osceola County, as well as parts of Orange and Polk counties, and has seen recent transformation in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria with the influx of Puerto Rican evacuees.

When asked about affordable housing in Central Florida, not only did he say the state needs to expand Section 8, but he also said residents need to be paid higher wages to help pay for mortgages.

“We also have to get the infrastructure and businesses down here so that people can get high paying jobs,” Liebnitzky told Political Connections host Ybeth Bruzual.
