DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A woman has died in a Daytona Beach hit-and-run after she was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross a highway.

The crash happened Wednesday night on U.S. 92 and Tomoka Farms Road.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 36-year-old Kristen Trull and an unidentified man was trying to cross U.S. 92 at an area without a crosswalk or intersection.

Subsequently, the front of a 2013 Lincoln MKZ fatally struck Trull and then reportedly left the scene.

According to Lt. Kim Montes Thursday, troopers located the owner of the vehicle and identified damage on the car consistence with the hit-and-run.

Troopers now have possession of the vehicle and will be submitting it as evidence to confirm its involvement in the deadly crash.

The owner of the vehicle is a person of interest in the case and is cooperating with authorities, FHP says.

Charges are pending.
