"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show," ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement.

On Tuesday, Barr, attacked former President Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, calling her the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and "Planet of the Apes."

"Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj," Barr wrote.

Barr deleted the tweet shortly after posting it. She then issued an apology, saying she should have known better.

"I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans," Barr wrote. "I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me, my joke was in bad taste."

Barr also said she was leaving Twitter.

Earlier in the day, comedian Wanda Sykes, who worked as a consulting producer on first season of the revival, announced she would not be returning next season.

Co-star Sara Gilbert condemned Barr's comments, writing that Barr's views did not reflect those of the show's cast and crew.

The "Roseanne" revival, which debuted in March, quickly became a ratings hit for ABC. It was set to return for a 13-episode second season this fall.
