Sea Ray Boats based in Flagler County recently laid off 90 employees due to what the company calls market demand. However, another manufacturing company in Brevard County says it can help those affected.

  • Yacht manufacturing company in Brevard has openings
  • Ocean Alexander looking to hire for 71 positions

Ocean Alexander is a luxury yacht manufacturing company based in Merritt Island.

It currently has 71 open positions and, by 2019, the company hopes to hire an additional 200.

“There are always up and downs in markets and it’s always hard to hear that jobs are cut back, but we just hope we can get a few people back into the work force, help them feed their families, and let them do something they love,” said Justin Barnhill, executive vice president of Ocean Alexander.

In addition to the 90 employees that were laid off from the Sea Ray plant in Palm Coast, another 130 employees were furloughed.

The company says it will make an effort to help laid off employees by holding an outplacement fair to help employees transition.
