Accused murderer Markeith Loyd refused to face a judge at his court hearing Tuesday morning.

Loyd is charged with killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend and an Orlando police lieutenant.

Tuesday's hearing was the latest in a series of status hearings leading up to his scheduled 2018 trial.

Loyd is facing the death penalty for killing Sade Dixon, his pregnant ex- girlfriend back in mid-December of 2016. Weeks later, he allegedly took the life of Orlando Police Lt. Debra Clayton as she was attempting to take him into custody in a Walmart parking lot.

In Loyd's most recent status hearing in November, Loyd said he was willing to submit to a lie detector in the case.

Loyd's first murder trial for Dixon's death is scheduled for September of 2018.

The trial for Clayton's death will be scheduled at a later date.

A date was not set for Loyd's next status hearing.
