Firefighters rescued 24 people from a hotel elevator in Daytona Beach on Friday, according to the Daytona Beach Fire Department.

  • Only one person experienced dizziness

The incident occurred at the north tower of the Hilton Resort in Daytona Beach at about 9:40 p.m.  The elevator was stuck between the lobby and the third floor, firefighters said.

A member of the hotel’s staff told firefighters that a person inside the elevator was complaining of a medical problem. Firefighters entered the elevator shaft to extract the 24 people inside. The escape hatch of the elevator was removed and firefighters used two ladders to remove the people.

Everyone was safely removed from the elevator, the fire department said. Only one person experienced dizziness and weakness.
