Three new ramps from the Central Florida Greeneway — also known as State Road 417 — are now open, making travel between the toll road and Florida's Turnpike easier.

The new ramps have all electronic toll collection.

For motorists traveling southbound on SR-417 toward Disney World, they’ll have a new ramp to the Turnpike northbound toward Interstate 4. The other two ramps are for motorists heading north on SR-417 from Hunter’s Creek. The new ramps will allow drivers to travel north or south.

Drivers said easier access to the turnpike will save them 10 to 15 minutes.

"I think it would be very helpful, because we would have to go drive over there, just to go on the turnpike, and just to hit the 417," said Anthony Cannon said. "It's very convenient just to put one there, and everyone would be able to use it."

In order to avoid extra fees, vehicles must have a SunPass, E-Pass or another type of transponder. If drivers don't have a transponder, they will be billed through TOLL-BY-PLATE. According to FDOT, TOLL-BY-PLATE rates are almost a quarter more than SunPass.

The new Turnpike ramps now open are as follows:

  • SR-417 northbound (eastbound) to Turnpike southbound — no toll
  • SR-417 northbound (eastbound) to Turnpike northbound — 79 cents for SunPass, $1.06 TOLL-BY-PLATE
  • SR-417 southbound (westbound) to Turnpike northbound — 79 cents SunPass, $1.06 TOLL-BY-PLATE

The opening of the new ramps completes five of eight ramps at the interchange and is part of a $17 million construction project.

The last three ramps are scheduled to be constructed at the same time as the project to widen Florida's Turnpike from Osceola Parkway to the Beachline Expressway. That project is expected to begin in the fall.
