A search is underway for a man wanted in connection with Tuesday night's deadly shooting of a pregnant woman in Orlando, deputies said.

  • Victim's father said an ex-boyfriend shot, killed his daughter
  • Sada Dixon was 3 months pregnant
  • 2 other children were inside home at time of shooting

Sade Dixon, 24, was shot and killed Tuesday just north of the Pine Hills area of Orlando. Law enforcement released the victim's name Wednesday morning.

The father, who did not want to be named, said his daughter was pregnant with the alleged shooter's child. Ronald Steward, who is Dixon's brother, was also shot and was last listed in critical condition.

At about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said homicide detectives are seeking to locate Markeith Loyd, 41, in connection with Dixon's murder.

Loyd is Dixon's ex-boyfriend and he is considered armed and dangerous, deputies said.

Deputies responded at 9:13 p.m. to an aggravated battery call at 6031 Long Peak Drive, just a few blocks north of the Pine Hills neighborhood.

Jane Watrel, public information officer for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, said Steward was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

"Detectives believe a known suspect came to the residence and was banging on the front door," Watrel said. "The victim answered and was mortally wounded by the suspect. Her brother came to her aid and was shot and critically wounded by the suspect."

Dixon's two other children, ages 5 and 7, her parents and another brother were home at the time of the attack but were not injured, Watrel said.

"We have our victims advocates here, obviously this is a terrible tragedy for this family. We are only a week away from Christmas, so we ask people to keep this family in your thoughts and prayers," Watrel said.

Anyone with information about Loyd's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
