An Osceola County substitute teacher accused of having sex with a minor has been granted bond.

Sara Moore, 35, who is charged with several counts of sexual battery, went before a judge Wednesday after being accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy.

Moore posted bond Wednesday night and was released.

According to an affidavit, the parents of the minor became suspicious of their son’s behavior and contacted police. The victim told investigators with the St. Cloud Police Department that he had sexual relations with Moore.

Bryana Olarte, who lives nearby, said she was shocked by the news.

“I can’t even believe I am hearing about this,” Olarte said.

Moore most recently worked in a health classroom at St. Cloud Middle School but substituted for a number of schools in the Osceola County School District. It is not clear whether the minor was one of her students; however, the police report said they met at school.

The school district on Monday confirmed an employment termination letter was sent to Moore. She had worked as a substitute teacher at St. Cloud Middle since April 30, 2014.

According to investigators, the victim said they had five to 10 sexual encounters at Moore's home and another 10 to 15 encounters in her vehicle. No one answered the door at her home.

The report said the victim broke down in tears when he talked to police, saying it was not Moore’s fault and that he didn't want to ruin her life. According to the affadavit, messages left on the minor’s phone read, “I don't want you for a mom, I want you. I want to be with you."

A stained blanket that was inside Moore’s car was taken into evidence. That, along with other things, will play a role during Moore’s evidentiary hearing, which will determine the status of her bond.

“I really wish (this) wasn’t true at all,” Olarte said.

Detectives are asking anyone else with who may have had similar incidents to contact the St. Cloud Police's Department Criminal Investigation Unit at 407-891-6700.
