David Stillings’ framing shop sits on US 17/92 in Casselberry. Stillings is known as the “Lightning Stalker.”

“I chase every storm, because the one I don’t chase is probably the one that’s going to give me something really cool,” said Stillings, the owner of Stormy Weather Gallery.

In four decades, Stillings has learned to embrace change. He used to use cameras and shoot on film.  Now everything has gone digital.

“If the world changes and you don’t change with it, you’re going to be left behind,” said Stillings.

Stillings is now bracing for the major changes that will be happening across the street from his shop.

Officials break ground on the new Lake Concord Park development Tuesday morning.

Lake Concord Park will include a new apartment complex and new waterfront restaurants. The 20-acre project expands the park area and encompasses several city buildings, including City Hall and the police department. It transforms Lake Concord from a park almost into a village.

Officials expect the project to be a major economic driving force for Casselberry. They see their city as the gateway into Seminole County along Highway 17/92.

“That thing’s going to go up, whether I like it or not," Stillings said. "Perhaps it will bring me more business because nobody right now even knows I exist."

Stillings says his work can also serve as a lesson for others in their lives.

“If I can do this, then you can do anything you set your mind to,” said Stillings.

The first phase of the Lake Concord Park development is set to be completed in spring 2017.
