The Canaveral Port Authority was expected to discuss allowing companies to submit proposals for new attractions and venues, but the item was pulled from Wednesday's meeting agenda.

The item is expected to come back at another meeting, but it's unclear why it was initially pulled.

The Brevard Zoo has proposed a one-of-a-kind aquarium with marine life found from the ocean and the Indian River.

It's just one option for the Port Canaveral and the Cove area, though.

The port wants family friendly, cost-effective attractions and venues that will draw tourists from the Orlando area and beyond. Leaders also want the attractions to be a part of excursions for cruise passengers.

Meanwhile, port leaders signed off last week on an agreement with the developers of the Cove area. The goal is to bring restaurants, shops and a hotel to Port Canaveral.

Construction is expected to begin in 2016.
