Florida Highway Patrol investigators said they are looking for a driver who hit a 17-year-old riding his bicycle and left the teenager to die Wednesday afternoon in east Orange County.

Troopers said Rakib Chowdhury was riding his bike around 3:30 p.m. on Trevarthon Road, east of Chapel Hill Cemetery, when the car hit him and kept traveling westbound. The front left side of the vehicle took the impact, and the teenager was knocked to the ground.

According to witnesses, the driver stopped briefly, backed up the vehicle, but then ultimately drove off.

Chowdhury died at the scene, troopers said.

The Florida Highway Patrol released this picture of a blue Dodge Dart, saying the suspect was driving a model-year 2012 or newer.

Troopers think the driver's side mirror of the car was knocked off and the headlights were damaged as a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
