The Florida Health Dept. is investigating Legionnaires' disease cases at an Altamonte Springs hotel.

The three cases either stayed or were exposed to the SpringHill Suites Hotel on State Road 436 in Altamonte Springs, with the most recent case in April.

The health department is sending out a notice to people who stayed at the hotel and asking people who may be getting treatment for the disease to contact the agency at 407-665-3266.

Legionnaires' disease is caused by a bacteria that can exist in man-made water systems like hot tubs, spas, large plumbing systems or air-conditioning systems. It cannot be spread person to person.

Symptoms of the disease are similar to pneumonia, with high fever, shortness of breath, muscle aches and headaches.

Most people recover from the infection, and most cases can be treated with antibiotics.
