Two people were killed Friday morning when a plane crashed at the Sebring Regional Airport, officials said.

The plane crashed shortly before 11 a.m. in a grassy area at the northeast corner of the airport runway, the Highland County Sheriff's Office said.

Investigators said the two people who died were taking part in the Annual Manufactures Show Case hosted by the airport. Their identities have not yet been released pending the notification of next of kin.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are responding to the scene to investigate.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
