A Hudson couple who had been missing for several days aboard a 27-foot sail boat were rescued by the Coast Guard early Saturday.
Bogdan Makowski, 69, and Elizabeth Makowski, 61, went sailing last weekend in a newly purchased 1976 Almond Hunter boat when the motor died, the Coast Guard said. The couple called the boat's previous owner, who instructed them to contact BoatUS for a tow.
BoatUS apparently never received a call.
A friend reported the Makowskis missing Friday morning because she had not heard from them since Sunday and expected them to return Tuesday.
The Coast Guard said it found the couple around 2 a.m. 10 miles northwest of Anclote Key. They were in reported to be in stable condition.
Their last location had been near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, and they were supposedly heading toward Skeleton Key Marina in Hudson.
