One charge has been dropped against a member of the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority board after he was indicted in April for allegedly holding secret meetings to vote out the authority's previous director.

The State Attorney's Office on Monday dropped the third count against Richard Scott Batterson — a charge of receiving unlawful compensation for official behavior.

A spokeswoman said she didn’t know the reason the charge was dropped.

Two counts remain against Batterson, including another charge of soliciting unlawful compensation and one count of bribery.

Batterson was indicted by a 15-member grand jury April 24 on three second-degree felony charges.

Batterson turned himself in that same day in Seminole County. He posted bond, set at $2,800, a short time later.
