Hurricane season starts Sunday, and now is the time to prepare for the season by getting hurricane kits in order.

The state of Florida is helping with a sales tax holiday on hurricane supplies. It started Friday and runs through Sunday, June 8.

The sales tax holiday includes many of the essentials needed for a hurricane kit, from ice packs to batteries to weather radios to portable generators.

A list of items approved for the sales tax holiday is available on the Florida Dept. of Revenue website.

The state will have two other sales tax holidays this year. One is on school supplies and clothes in August and the other is on energy-efficient appliances in September.
