The Ormond Beach Police Department is searching for an 87-year-old man who suffers from dementia and was possibly last seen in August, police said.

Melvin Butzlaff was last heard from by his daughter, who lives in Casselberry, about nine months ago, police said. She stated Butzlaff was living with his son, Robert Butzlaff, at 642 Robin Road B.

When contacted by the Ormond Beach Police Department, Robert Butzlaff said his father was being cared for by a woman known only as Beverly A.

The son told police that his father and the caretaker left for Greenville, South Carolina, in August.

The son and the daughter haven't heard from their father since.

Beverly A. is described as a woman in her 70s and drives a white Lincoln. Attempts to contact Melvin Butzlaff's phone revealed it has been turned off, police said.

Police contacted the Greenville Police Department, but officials there said they have had no contact with Butzlaff.

Butzlaff is described to be 5-feet, 6-inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds within brown/gray hair.

Anyone with information on Butzlaff's whereabouts is asked to call the Ormond Beach Police Department at 386-677-0731.
