Deputies in Orange County are investigating the death of a 70-year-old man who was found dead in a retention pond behind his home early this morning.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said around 2:50 a.m. deputies were called to the home on Spyglass Street after the man’s family found him in the pond.
"For approximately two hours he was missing from the home and the family went looking for him. Unfortunately they located him in the pond behind the house," said Sgt. Alexander Greenberg from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the man suffered from medical problems and his wife told investigators her husband had dementia.
The man’s name has not been released.
