Schuyler Products is recalling several lots of Worm Shield heartworm preventative for dogs.

The chewable treats are being recalled because the company says the pills may not full protect the pets through the expiration date. That means the pet could be exposed to heartworm disease.

The lots recalled are:

  • Worm Shield Dog Small, up to 25 lbs:

  • Worm Shield Dog Medium, 26-50 lbs.:

  • Worm Shield Dog Large, 51-100 lbs.:

Also, the company is pulling seven additional lots of Worm Shield from distribution, but they are not being officially recalled. Those lots are:

Worm Shield pills were sold at Banfield Hospitals. If you bought the products, you are asked to bring them back to Banfield. You are also asked to get your pet tested for heartworm as a precaution.
