A former teacher accused of child rape can get out of jail -- for $4.4 million.

Dennis Turner, a former Brevard County teacher, is charged with 126 counts of having sex with at least one of his students.

All those counts are for sexual battery of a child, which is how Florida state law classifies rape.

Dennis Turner, a former drama teacher at Edgewood Jr.-Sr. High School, in Merritt Island.

Brevard County deputies said they began looking into Turner before the last school year even ended after the Sheriff's Office got some information about possible inappropriate activity by the 56-year-old teacher.

Investigators located the victim, who told them she had a three-year relationship with Turner that began when she was 15 and ended when she graduated.

She said some of those encounters even happened during school and on school property.

Turner resigned long before his arrest, and even before the last school year ended.

Now, deputies said they believe there may be evidence of other victims.
