The minimum wage in Florida right now stands at $8.56 an hour, after voters in 2004 approved a constitutional amendment that increases the state minimum wage each year based on inflation.
Florida’s minimum wage is currently higher than the national minimum wage, which stands at $7.25 an hour.
However, some say $8.56 an hour isn’t enough to live on. Calls for a $15-an-hour minimum wage have dominated elections and presidential debates, and now you, the voter, will get to decide in November on Amendment 2, which would gradually raise Florida's minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2026.
The man behind Amendment 2, prominent attorney John Morgan, joins Ybeth, Greg, and Gary this week to explain why he says Florida must raise its minimum wage more than ever.
